Level 3 Experienced Worker Electrical: An Overview
The Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification is designed for experienced electricians who have developed their skills and knowledge through practical work, but want to achieve a recognised qualification. It provides a route for competent workers to have their existing abilities assessed against the requirements of the industry.
Unlike a traditional classroom-based electrical course, the qualification is primarily focused on demonstrating competence in the workplace. Candidates will need relevant experience and must provide evidence showing that they can carry out electrical work safely and effectively.
Who Is the Qualification For?
The Level 3 qualification is aimed at electricians who are already working in the industry, and have substantial practical experience. It’s particularly suitable for those who have gained their skills through employment, previous training, or on-the-job experience, but do not hold a formal qualification.
What Does the Qualification Cover?
The qualification assesses a broad range of the skills and knowledge required to work as a competent electrician. Areas covered include electrical installation work, inspection and testing, health and safety, electrical science and the requirements of relevant regulations and standards.
Candidates must demonstrate that they can apply their knowledge in real working situations, rather than just understand electrical theory. Evidence of completed work, workplace activities and practical competence form an important part of the assessment process.
Why Take the Course?
Achieving the qualification can provide formal recognition of an electrician's existing skills and experience. It can also help candidates demonstrate their competence to employers, and support progression within the electrical industry.
For experienced workers who have spent years carrying out electrical work without completing a formal qualification, the experienced worker route can be a practical way to work towards recognised certification, while continuing to use their existing knowledge and skills.
Will I need to complete any practical assessments?
As part of the qualification, you’ll need to complete at least two live observations. One may be completed remotely through live video streaming, while at least one observation must take place in person at your workplace with an assessor.
How Long Does Level 3 Take?
The qualification is self-paced, so the timeline depends on how much time and effort you can devote to your portfolio and workplace assessments.
What Does It Cost?
We offer the course for £1,550 + VAT, or £155 + VAT monthly for 10 months, with other payment methods available.
Is this Course Official?
